Sheridan Lake Road 2020

Sheridan Lake Road from south-west Rapid City to Hwy 385 is undergoing a major facelift. The popular road was closed much of 2021 and just in late November has the road been open to travel.

For the many of us who use the road, we generally enjoyed the easy scenic drive prior to the trucks, backhoes, graders, front-end loaders, and large number of fellas with bright vests. The drive was captured in this video before the road closing. It's a little different now and there is still much work to be done.

When the road reopened one could only speculate as to what was changed. Well for one thing the intersection of Sheridan Lake Road and Hwy 385 is very different. The north entrance to Sheridan Lake is nothing like it was. Where work appears to be completed the roadway is wider and some areas have curb and gutter. From Dakota Point west the road was changed considerably with the distance reduced.

The growth along Sheridan Lake Road has been significant over the past several years so the folks living in this area are sure to enjoy the improvements.
