George O'Rielly was proud of having been part of the discovery of the Verendrye plate.

George O'Rielly worked as a bus driver for some time, then helped in the construction of the Mount Rushmore memorial, driving truck for a construction company. Afterward he worked at Ellsworth Air Force Base. When that job disappeared, he moved his family to South St. Paul, Minn., and worked in the stock yards.
